Antique Victorian Chippendale style, mahogany tea table

This is a copy of a Thomas Chippendale mahogany tea table in the chinoiserie style which was very popular in England in the mid 18th century. A similar aged copy can be seen in the article on taking tea with Jane Austin at the cultureconcept.com
It is a stunning small table which (in days gone past) would have been used to place a tea tray on, and as the top of the table would hardly ever be seen, most of the detail has gone into the legs and side rail which would always be on show. The quality of the workmanship is extremely high and the attention to detail makes this not only a very desirable item but a piece of furniture that anyone who appreciates good craftmanship, will instantly recognise. The legs are very finely made in what is known as a 'cluster' style where three fine struts of wood are arranged in a triangular pattern with ornamental supports placed at regular intervals down the legs. Additionally, the side rail and edge of the top are all delicately carved.
